What's in the Ford gearbox conversion kits?

OK, so I've bought a 5-spd type 9 gearbox. I know I need certain bits and pieces to attach it to the A-series and I've been told I can get a kit from the Brum Morris centre. Their site is AWOL, so:

What's in these kits? What other bits do I need from the donor car (1.8 Sierra)? Is the conversion portable from a 1098 to a 1275 at a later date?

Who else sells the kits? Which is the best?*

Hello,
I've a 5 speed Minor using the Birmingham Centre's kit. Its ok but allow yourself plenty of time to fit it.
From the sierra you just need the gearstick and gaiter iirc to go with the box itself.
The Birmingham kit includes - bellhousing to adapt gearbox to A series engine, driven clutch plate (to suit Minor pressure plate and sierra splined shaft), input shaft bearing (back of crank in place of that oilite bush), gearbox crossmember and rubber mount, recon propshaft (to suit longer box and also match to orig axle), new speedo cable and lastly, a new floor section to replace the screw in Minor one as the sierra gearbox is wider.

I've had mine a while now and use it with a 1275 Midget engine. Its good and I like it but it did need some tweaking here and there to get it to fit together. They do an instruction sheet too which goes with it.

The only other thing is that because the box is longer, the gearstick and handbrake have a 'coming together' in 2nd and 4th so you also need to shorten the handbrake a bit. Its all explained in their instructions. Hopefully, the snags I had will have been sorted out on later kits.
Like I said, allow yourself plenty of time.
Cheers, Colin.

Contact JLHmorrisminors. They have a lot of experience with this mod, and are very helpful

I contacted Jonathan some time ago and he said that he hasn't done one of these in years. K-series, yes, but A-series, no.

It seems as though the Brum kit is the only one - I certainly haven't found any others...

Thanks Kevin. I met Chris and Merlin at the IOW Rally a few weeks ago. I'll give him a yell and ask about it and his other products.
