windscreen sealant

Post by jtd.75 »

can anyone tell me where I can get windscreen sealant, I am putting back both my front and rear screens after a restoration job. I have tried my local auto glass dealers and they tell me they are not allowed to sell it. I think they where waiting for me to ask them to install them (at what cost) Will any non setting sealant do from a builders merchant

DON'T use anything that gives off acid as it cures - I know many bathroom sealants release acetic acid as they cure. Good for chips, bad for bodywork...

Though any half decent motor factors should be able to flog you something suitable (for the screen, not for chips) :)

Just use the rubber itself, we never use a sealant on new rubbers, as they are still soft enough to make a good seal.
