I have just bought a towbar on ebay, and it was delivered today.
Sadly, no instructions were given.
Which colours go where in the socket, and where in the car do I find them?
sidelights
brakelights
indicators.
no fancy foglights or reversing lights
And no overriders anymore...

Onne, I have a wiring diagram indicating colours and socket connection numbers etc. I could e-mail to you if you let me know address by PM.
It's in black & white but quite clear.

Pin 4 (R) Green - offside indicator
Pin 5 (58R) Brown - Offside tail

There are two types of socket. the main one, if I remember, has a black flip cover. this is for the lights etc. The secondary socket has a grey cover. this is for internal electrics.

The covers can vary, so can be misleading. The two sockets are known as 12N and 12S. 12N is the roadlights as described above, although the pin that is now for rear fogs used to be a permanent feed for caravan internal lights. The second, 12S (supplementary) is used for fridge, battery charging, reverse lights and overrun catch (if electric), a permanent feeed, and some spares. There are a couple of ways of wiring this. Commonly 12N is black with a black lid or metal, whereas 12S can be grey, white, or black with a white or grey cap (this is based on the variations I've seen, there are bound to be others).

It is now all sorted! I did end up going to Brittania Towbars in Bristol, who only charged me £20 for wiring it up.
The added some welds to the towbar as well, as the bolts supplied by the trader were too short
