Marina Brake servo unit and pedals

Hi to all
Can anyone let me know if they have fitted a complete Marina brake servo and pedal assembly into a Morris Minor or may know someone who has. Does anyone have any pictures of this? I have seen a couple of units in Morris Minors but these are not very clear on just how they are mounted onto the body. Is there any special way they have to be put in? I’m also not sure just how much has to be cut out of the firewall to allow for the pedals. Any info would be most appreciated Thanks

I've bought a copy of the "Morris Minor Modification Manual" by Owen Burton that refers to using the Marina pedal box.
Basically it says don't attach it directly to the Minor bulkhead as it's not strong enough.
Owen Burton can supply a steel frame that is welded to the bulkhead to spread the stresses and allow the pedal box to be mounted vertically.
The, small, picture, shows it's simple construction so I reckon it'd be easy to make.

Do you really want to do this mod?. In my opinion you have very little to gain, and will create a monstrocity in the enginebay. The pedal box is no better than the standard setup, and interferes with the bonnet cross member. As Paul mentions the bulkhead is not designed to take the loadings that this mod implies, and I doubt if the steel frame will do the job its intended to.Owen Burton no longer trades, but Bath MMC took over the distribution of his parts and now ESM have taken on this challenge. :D

Hi

Thanks I have managed to get a hold of a photo copy of "Morris Minor Modification Manual" by Owen Burton, however this copy only has limited info on how this unit is installed, if someone has more info or has some pictures or even knows of someone in a club that has modified their brake pedal units please let me know so I could write to or contact them…….Thanks

I'd agree, the main benefit would be safety in the form of dual circuit brakes - has anyone found a master cyclinder that will directly repalce the standard one whilst still giving the benefit? Surely there must be a market for such a thing?
