Is it easy, or possible, to re attach the quarterlight catch to the frame? Also is it straightforward to get the glass in or out?
Thanks.

hello
I think most of the catches are spotwelded to the frame, but it is quite easy to get replacement frames. The glass is really easy to get in and out - infact before I changed the rubbers, mine kept falling out!
There are some "additional" quarterlite catches available - designed to increase security - which might be worth gettting until you get a new frame
cheers
Rupert
Thanks

I assume your pin has broken off the 1/4 window frame. If the pin's not too damaged, it's possible to fit it back on with a dab of weld after removing the 1/4 glass.
If the pin has broken away & is now too short to re-weld, replacement pins are available from the MM specialists.
I haven't fitted new pins before, just re-welded originals, but I'd guess they could be peened over like a rivet to secure or welded on.

The original pins slotted through the frame (a sort of rectangular block with the pin protruding). If you have a broken frame with intact pin its half an hours work with angle grinder and drill to replace the pin on your good frame.

I've encountered another problem with quatlites.
Since I restored my 2 door the quarter light became very loose and won't stay in the open position, the wind just close it back, any ideas how to increase friction in the pin?

There's a big screw near the hinge that's supposed to adjust the amount of friction.

Alex is right and its quoted in the BMC manual but not in Haynes of course.

Mine screws are both same size, maybe because it's a thousand or maybe some previous owner changed them, I'll try to tighten one and see what happens...thanks
