Can anyone confirm this engine number:
8G9 R L 29932
Has the hole for the mechanical fuel pump, and it is a 948.
The reason for asking is the gold paint it has, combined with a number I don't recognize

As Dennis has said it was only the Austin engines that were made for fitment of a mechanical fuel pump so it might be an Austin engine number.

As far as I know , the 8G was used on all reconditioned engines. The engine on my 1971 pickup begins with 8G.I presume the gold paint on yours points to it being a goldseal recon unit......!
