Im new to all this, spent a the majority of my time on motorbikes. But as im now looking into getting one i would like to know if an alternator conversion, if not already fitted, is a good idea. Ive been told its a simple unbolt dynamo and bolt on alternator job in essence, correct or no??
thanks

Yup, it's just about that simple. The car will need converting to negative earth, which takes 2 minutes (if that) and means you can fit a modern stereo too. I like 'em, others here swear by the dynamo.

I had a flyer in the post the other day. Amonst other resto kit for MGs there was an alternator that was visuallly identical to a dynamo in shape size and colour.
I thought that was a really good idea 'till I saw the £400+ price!!
