I want to fit an autobox (I've a "bad" left leg).
I've already the gearbox, a BW65, out of a Triumph 1500 so rather then trying to source the Ital parts I'm going to see about adapting it to fit an A Series.
The intention would be to use a 1275 engine but at present all I've got is an old 1098 to use for mocking up.
Anyone tell me if the backplate / crank are the same bolt positions etc on 1098 as 1275 ?

Like I say the 1098 is purely for mock up purposes.

Very similar - but the crank has only 4 fixing bolt holes - the 1275 has 6. Maybe slight differences in backplates too - depends where 1275 engine comes from - Spridget 1275 uses excatly same gearbox as 1098 Minor.

If you are using the 1098 as a template you will have to source a Midget engine as the Marina - Ital one is different and is sold by some of the specialists to fit the standard box to the 1275cc.
I have not heard of a box from a Triumph being used before, I dont know but maybe the input shaft is wrong.

the 1275 marina ital engine uses a different back plate to the 1098 morris and midget engines.

the pump is bigger and in a slightly different position on the 1275.
new back plates to suit the 1275 ital and marina are available form esm

Pump is in the same place - but may be slightly bulkier. Pretty sure the 1098 backplate (perhaps with slight modification) can be used.
Someone had a Marina 1700 engine with autobox going recently - that would make a cracking auto Minor!

I reckon you need to find an auto Marina/ Ital. You'll need the drive plate, torque convertor, engine plate with the hole for doing the convertor bolts... And you'll probably need a custom propshaft too.

If you were closer I'd chuck you a Triumph 1300 engine and barter for a few quid for the other bits required so you could do it the easy all Triumph way - Not exactly cost effective to post that lot though!

Thinking about it, I can't remember if you kept all the fittings, but you'll still need the Marina drive plate and if you find that you'll probably find the bellhousing too!
