restoration help

Hi.

Have started my first full resto on a 67 saloon.

While I am working on bodywork (which may be some time) should I bleed brakes and remove all pcs so that nothing seizes? I do intend to strip and replace most of braking system eventually but do not want it to seize up in meantime.

Plus how hard is it to fit a new wiring loom, current one is very brittle and I assume best bet is to take it all out as and when I'm stripping other parts alongside it etc

All thoughts and help gratefully accepted

It is not worth bleeding the brakes if you intend to remove all the pieces i'm not sure what your getting at there! Also if you are going to replace most of it anyway, there is no point. The wiring loom is ok to replace, it should not be brittle as the wires are plastic. A good method of cleaning an original loom is to soak it in warm soapy water, gently moving it around in the water, I've just done this to two looms and was amazed by the results.

I agree with Les, no point in bleeding the system yet. What is certain
is that the wheel cylinders WILL sieze up if the brakes are not operated
regularly. On no account leave the handbrake ON at any time while
it is not being used on the road. You could also get trouble from rust
forming on the brake drums but this usually wears off pretty quickly
once you start using the car.
