V8 Traveller - Where are you now??

Post by Cam »

Image

Kevin Daly asked me to post this picture and ask the question:

V8 Traveller - Where are you now??

This is a picture of the excellent V8 Traveller built by Gary Bezer apparently starting life as a saloon.

Kevin said: We sent him an invitation to this years rally and it came back as not known at this address so he may not know that our Rally Herts Branch / Southern Counties Regional Rally is still at Langleybury Children's Farm on the 19th - 20th July.

I'm no help locating this vehicle. I do know of it and have another picture of it in my collection - but that's as far as I know.

Try contacting Membership Adminstrator Liz saxon at the MMOC Office. I know that she's really busy at the moment, and might not be able to pass on addresses due to data protection, but if you're really nice and give her plenty of notice you might get her to pass on a message.

Cheers

Hello Kevin,
I searched my name and V8 and came up with your search for me.
I moved house in November 2000, which is why you lost touch with me.
If you email me I'm happy to send you my current address.
Just to let you know me and my V8 Morris are doing well.
I couldn't look at the image you posted of my car, as your message has been up for some time now.
I havn't worked out how to send images sorry.
Best Regards,
Gary Bezer

It was stored on a server at the university which I no longer work for, so I presume they deleted it.

After searching around old backups I THINK this might be it:

But clear lenses and orange bulbs would perhaps look a bit better, especially on a black car.

Thank you "Cam" for Insertng the image of my V8 Traveller, and that's me on the right drinking a Shandy.
This was the last Herts Club show I went to with my car.
I feel I need to get it out and about for 2006?

Hello James, Thanks, Yes it's the 3.5ltr SD1 V8, and the Blower is a 4:71 GMC Supercharger.
After running the car for 2 years with the standard Rover set up, I decided to do something special for the Morris Minor 50th at Bleinham Palace hence the Blower.
I modified the standard Rover inlet manifold to mount the Blower, and designed and manufactured the Stainless steel carb intake manifold on top of the Blower to take 4off x 1 3/4" SU carbs. It took the car from 155 bhp returning 30mpg to 300 bhp returning 18mpg, but twice the fun.

Hi Gary,

I didn't think it looked standard, How much was the total outlay for the change over?(supercharger) I also have a SD1 in my mog, Have you had it on a rolling road?

Hi James,
The Blower conversion total cost was approx £2k and that's with me producing the manifolds, belt tension pully, (including bearings etc), 4 carb linkage system, new needles and jets, dash pot springs, butterflies, and modifying the engine, (Range Rover pistons) adding oil cooler, Rev limiter, ignition retart unit, boost gauge.
I rebuilt the engine prior to putting on the road in 1996, so I just had to prepare it to take the blower.
The blower cost me £1,040.00 from a guy in Birmingham called "custom enterprises" and for that I got the polished Blower unit off the shelf, including snout, and top and bottom belt pulleys, manifold gaskets, belt, belt tension pulley arm.
Hello John,
Yes I am in Margate now and have had the pleasure to visit one of your meets in the past with a guy named Mick Hall. I would love to come down, but can't say I will make your next one on the 9th.
