Propshaft differences? (early vs late cars)

Post by rayofleamington »

Whilst replacing UJ's on my SII Traveller I spotted that the front end of the prop didn't fit as far into the geabox as I was expecting it to.

This led me to wonder if it had a mix up of parts. The car had 1098 running gear but may have had the original prop.

Are the early (e.g. SII) props any different from later ones (e.g 1098) - maybe an inch?

Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

All OHV Minors have the same length propshaft.

It might have had a repair at one stage & used the centre shaft section from another car.

That's what I thought too. The only 'different' ones I have seen are the MM type and they have a flange at each end.
