Is it possible to adust the door upwards so that the out door frame lifts up, I have tried movining the hinges but that does not seem to work. As you look at the door it is sloping downwards towards the rear of the car. None of the manuals tell you how!!

If the door is sloping downwards it could be because the Hinge pillar (A post)
has rotted at the bottom which means that you can lift the door easily and
see the movement at the hinge end. Hopefully not ,so it is possible to raise the door if you take its weight with a jack and slightly loosen all the hinge bolts BUT, mark around the original position of the hinges with a pencil first or you will never get back to where you started!!! Since the door is 'sloping' it is
more likely that you need to make up shims of suitable thickness to move the
bottom hinge towards the rear of the car.

Hi willie yes its me again, as you most proberly know by now I am restoring a 1960 2 door and I am putting things back on. Like I said to you in my last email the elderly chap that I got the car from removed every thing and just left the shell this also included the hinges. everything is trial and error when I put things back on, I am using my 1962 2 door as a reference but as you know certain changes where made like the heater for a start. I have asked him about the doors and he said he had no problem with before he started the strip down so it looks like something that I have done. Still not put the indies back on yet

enough said about that the better

Willie are your back lights standard for the year.
I don't have any back wings to compare.

Willie's rear lights are correct for the year (1957/58? I think), but the orange 'add-on' indicators are not.

Yes, as CAM says correct for a 1957 car. The indicators were a very popular
period mod.

I have those indicators in the same place, but I'm replacing them with L488 lenses, and double filament bulbs
the latter because I don't have the correct, deeper, bulb holders.

I think I will go for a set up like Willie's. I could do with some close up pictures My new rear wing has a half inch hole in it - It is tempting to think that the boss on the back of the gasket goes in this hole. Can any one tell me if that's correct?
In my box of bits that came with the car there is a orange lamp - it takes a festoon bulb and so does not need a big hole for the lamp holder Does any one know if these are still available?
