Rear Axle - Midget

Post by adritch »

Have just found a 1500 Midget in my local scrap yard. Can I use the rear axle as a direct replacement on my Series II?

I'm intending to fit a Midget 1275, so want the higher gearing, hardened half shafts and bigger brakes, but I know the 1500 uses Spitfire engine/transmission but don't know about the rear axle.

Thanks,
Adam.

Isn't the midget axle physically narrower?

I'm not sure by how much but I'm 99% sure it is - although if its not a lot you could use wheels with a greater offset or fit spacers?
What would Macgyver do..?
