hiya,

what sizing systems were used for the screws, nuts and bolts used in the manufacture of a Morris Minor 1000? The types available are bewildering and I want to be sure that if I buy a replacement for any fixing I am definitely getting the right size. I know that there were often a mixture of sizing systems used in a single car, and of course I'm aware that in the thirty-five years since my van was made garages may have substituted fixings of a different sizing system again.... :-?

Should I be looking at UNF? UNC? BSF? BSW?

Should i get one of the Namrick "universal" thread gauges? http://www.namrick.co.uk/browse.asp?PCID=22

bibble :o

As a general rule, the mechanicals are UNF & the body is BSF.

Initially, 99% of nuts & bolts were BSF when the Series MM was introduced. There are a couple of exceptions to this though.

The Austin mechanicals were UNF & stayed that way in the Minor body when the Series II came along.
