absolutely nooo idea where to put this but here goes
I'm cleaning up my fan blade etc and as the yellow paint comes off it reveals a deeper, almost orange, yellow colour underneath - here is a deeply exciting pic:
so does anyone know the correct colour I should be bunging on it and its associated yellow bits once I've cleaned them?
Yellow in my experience too. I know it's a very 'see through' colour, so maybe the orange was to help with that, just like yellow is often applied under red.
I used yellow Japlac paint from B&Q. Its a good yellow colour and covers well (which is unusual for yellow based paints). I also used it to refurb the back of my AA badge. And as a bonus it is easy to apply with a brush.

No it should never get hot. My guess is that the pulley should be black and the fan yellow.
I expect someone will be along soon to confirm the details!

Unfortunately the bible (Ray Newell) shows numerous pics of the various
engines but not one shows the fan! Perhaps,if you are that fanatical you should view the 'concours' cars at the next big meeting but I don't think that
anyone will spit on your car if it is the wrong shade of yellow!
oh dear! i'm so glad i'm not the only one leafing through ray newell looking at all the engine bay pics thanks very much willie Kind of nice to ask a question people aren't sure the answer to - and nice not to find that it's something everyone else knows, and i'm the only pig-ignorant one
BMC fan blade yellow is the colour. Excuse the pun

4 blade BMC fans were normally painted Red or Green but the standard 2 blade is yellow in the past I have used a Ford Yellow and thet seems to match OK, the pulley is also yellow
Hope that this helps, but I agree with the yellow plastic multi-blade fan mentioned earlier...............they do look nice
