I've got a 1968 saloon and I want to fit a cd payer and some speakers. Where do you think is the best place to mount the head unit? My dad has got it hung under the passenger glove box with speakers in the doors.

My CD player went in the passenger glove box with speakers hung underneath the glove boxes on both sides. Rear speakers went in home made boxes which sit on the parcel shelf.
Currently got an aerial under the dash but it doesn't get particularly good reception!

in the glove box seems favourite, as it hides the player. An internal amplified aerial on the top of the windscreen gives me very good reception. Speakers placed according to size and preference but around the parcel shelf or below each glove box works well
Of course you will need to have the car converted to negative earth if you have not done so, or risk frying the cd player if any electrical contacts are made with the car body as is normal when installing them.

Maybe an idea to check and double check boot seal, i know they don't like playing when they're damp.

Don't put speakers in the doors!
Stick them on the parcel shelf or in the footwell boards.
'Wilbur's' last owner fitted modern speakers in my front doors and I could throw them at him. Really ruins the look of the interior.
