Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knew what the correct colour was for the front grill and wheel rim of a 1969 Traveller ?? I have a 1962 saloon and the colour there is Old English White. Is this the standard colour for Minors or did they vary ? I see some cars with Silver grills. Is this the colour I should go with or will I stick to the white ???

On a late Minor, the wheel rim should be dark silver, and the grille Old English white if you're interested in originality.

However, i found the creamy Rover white available from Hellfrauds aerosols to be a good match on my car (certainly better than rust! ) )and I'm going to use a can of wheel silver when I eventually get around to doing the wheels.

Its best to dismantle grille and front panel to do a really thorough job of de-rusting the grille and painting it, but can be done in situ with careful masking.

A trick that Willie advised on when painting wheels paint the tyre with some washing up liquid the and paint overspill will be easily removed.
Although the later cars had silver rims many owners have changed them to Old English White, the rover colour is Arum white.

Yeah, I did paint the wheels on my saloon a year ago all right and I ended up taking them off the car and masking them up, which took ages, but looked good in the end (needs doing again though). I must remember that trick, sounds good.

Although I love originality, I also love the Old English White colour over the silver, so I'll probably paint both the wheels and grill in White instead for the look.
