Steve, just try it and see, or fit another wheel - funny that it always seems to be the n/s.

Not just the wiper arm loose on the spindle ? Wheel box can be turned 180 - not easy access !

Steve, I take it you still have all the original splitscreen wiper gear in place? If so then turning the wheelbox spindle may help slightly in an extreme case but i doubt you will notice the difference as its the drive cable that wears the most! What i have had to do on all my splitscreens is change the tube that the drive cable runs through. If you watch underneath your dash with the glovebox liners removed and the wipers on you will notice the section that is between the wheelboxes moves around a lot. :o This is because on the splitscreens it is a flexible tubing (coiled up a bit like a spring!). The way to cure it is to fit a solid tube as fitted to the single screen claphand wiper models and the difference is amazing! You will have to shorten the 948 tube at one end but i have found no need to reflare the end afterwards. The 1098 tube is to short as the n/s wheelbox is a lot closer to the o/s one. :D  It works for me!

Never seen a drive cable with any obvious wear - but you can turn it over too - and get a second life!

No problem Steve! :D

Willie, Yes, it is something i have had to do on both my sisters daily runners (52 2 door and 54 4 door) as it used to be a major problem for them both. It is the sort of practical mod that can be done to any splitscreen, even the serious show cars, as once fitted it can't be seen! :D

Hello all,

it has been mentioned before, but it is very easy to rotate the wheel box by 180 degrees, or as much as you want. Remove the lid from the wiper motor and disconnect the rack from the gear. Remove the wiper blades, then withdraw the rack. Once both wheel boxes have stopped turning, i.e. the rack is now disengaged from the wheel boxes, now turn each spindle by 180 degrees and re -insert the rack and reconnect. Replace the wiper blades and that's it.

Steve,

",ill have a lookmsoon, lrt u know how i ghet on ,chwers steve",,

I bet Onne's pleased that there is another Dutch speaker on this forum?
