I am having an issue with my brakes on my traveller. The fluid keeps disappearing, it is running ford front discs, a servo and standard rears. I checked all the connections and thought i found the leak at the brake switch union so i changed all of the pipework and all of the unions on the complete system yet it still loses fluid. Now for the strange part, the car does not drip fluid anywhere and it bleeds perfectly the brakes are firm and when it went for its mot last week the guy commented on how good the brakes were. It only loses fluid when standing not when driving, there is no sign of fluid anywhere(chassis, engine bay, inside drums, underneath car) Can anyone help me here as it is completely baffling.

Is there white smoke coming out of the exhaust? If there is the servo may be shot allowing the fluid to be drawn into the engine and burned.

cheers, yes the servo has about 500ml of fluid in it doh. Does anyone know what the servo is called that comes in the usual suspects kit? i will see if there any on ebay etc.

just one other thing, is there a repair kit available for lockheed servos? if so anyone know where?

Just do away with the servo - small car like Minor doesn't need a servo!! I believe repair kits are available - not cheap, but then new servo is VERY expensive.

Chances are you'll have one of those litle lockheed servos.

Just type 'lockheed servo' into ebay and buy the one that looks most similar. The inline ones pretty much all work the same way anyways.

thanks for the help guys, i have decided i am going to bypass the servo and see how i get on with it, if i dont like it then i can get that service kit at a later date.

Mate of mine had same problem with his MGB - white smoke plus loss of fluid. He removed the servo - says brakes are now better than ever - more 'feel' to the pedal.
