Not that I need the heater on at the moment...but, I cannot move the lever down to the off position. Can anyone advise how to remove the heater to check it out?.
Thanks.

hi
first you will need to drain the cooling system down.
take off the elephants trunk and heater pipes and demister.
then remove the wiring and there are 4 bolts, 2 in the dash panel and 1 either side of the heater.
thats about it in a nutshell.
but before you do all this there are some screws on the front and side panels, check to see if any of these are restricting the flap from moving, they may have been replaced at some time with longer screws

Yes - it's likely to be long screws!

The heater flap arrangement can sieze up at the top where the pivots are.
This happened to me and it was so siezed that it bent the metal rather than
free up. You could try squirting release fluid or WD40,using a flexible tube
so that you can aim it upwards through the air outlet.
