Cyl head removal

Sorry for the very dumb question, but is it necessary to drain the water out of the engine & rad before removing the cylinder head? And how about the oil?

YES to water from the engine - just to below the head level obviously - no need to specially drain the rad - and NO to oil. Good idea to change the oil afterwards though - after the first test run - to remove any water or gunge that got in there during the head change.

I think either the gasket has gone or the valves are toast on 2 & 3. This is following on from the earlier thread:

The spare head seems OK so I'm going to swap that on and see if it makes any difference.
