Welcome to the clan. I don't think that you will be able to get your own insurance at 12, but dad should be able to get cover for him to drive plus fire & theft whilst the car is off road - presumably you plan to work on it over the next few years ready for when you can drive it on the road?

Sorry, but there is no good thing to use as temporary filler in the wood. The wood is an important structural part of the car and if it has holes then it should be replaced. Large holes tend to be rot, small holes woodworm (particularly in "barn finds"). Either way, the wood has lost its strength. If you did try to fill then the first job is to cut back to sound timber - which will make the hole much larger ! Very small rot holes can be filled with Ronseal Wood Filler or Plastic Padding Wood Filler. In either case treat first with anti-rot (eg cuprinal) followed by a resin based wood hardener - again, ronseal or Cuprinol. This can prolong the life of some frames if the rot is not too bad, but it does depend on where the problem is and how big it is.

More positive on the miror front - any of the Minor specialists (see the Club Magazine "Minor Matters") can supply "original" pattern items, plus if you look through a magazine like "Practical Classics" numerous places offer different style units. Over the years Minors may have had many different styles of mirror fitted, so yours might not be original, but that doesn't matter unless you want to win a Consours event.

Where are you based? Joining a local branch could give you loads off assistance in addition to the advice you will get from here. If you can get to Scunthorpe for 1st / 2nd July then come to the National Rally and see hundreds of examples of how to do the car, and see the trade stands to spend your pocket money. Good luck with the car.

Have you thought about joining the club and local branch as they usually have details of whats on locally and you will meet other Moggies as well, if you look on the menu and go to branches it will give you some contacts.
Cheers
