Is there anywhere in the uk that you can buy a newly manufactured chassis for a mog van or does anyone have one that is not to far gone?
Regards

The Birmingham Minor centre do them new, but (I think) they are Sri-Lankan made so I'd go and see one first before you buy it to make sure you are happy with the quality.
Personally I'd be happier with a good 2nd hand one (if you can find one).

This'll sound very disparaging, but take some careful measurements of what you have and cross check with the Sri Lankan one - I've had some truly DREADFUL Sri Lankan panels before now, wrong by up to 3 inches.

Cheers chaps, I will take that as good advice! 3 inches out is just plain mad !
I think I will keep a look out for a second hand one. Mine alas is totaly shot, but I am determined as hell to get this LCV restored! No doubt this is the first of many posts for me.

the sri lanken chassis have had a bad report, but there have been a couple of good uns that i heard about, so do not discount all of the sri lanken chassis.
it may be the only route to take you know, second hand ones do not come up for sale very often but try the lcv register site

Thanks aupickup. I have been in touch with russ and bought his book, and will be a paid up member soon.
I guess I will have to take cross measurments from the four corners of the chassis and compare them to the sri lanken one ?
I only had the van deliverd on sunday, and only just got it in the garage tonight, probably its first year undercover on concrete for many years.
I am kind of thinking of doing a blog, but with living with my disabled partner a mad old uncle and two dogs, I dont know how regular my updates will be

thats ok no probs
even the sri lanken chassis can be altered and at least you know from the start you are getting a rust and rot free one.
as even secondhand ones you can not see inside

Chris, I for one will look forward to your blog and the story of the rebuild.

Don't forget to post the link to the blog once you have it.

Seconded, I look forward to it - just hope that you have better luck than me

thought it would sound disparaging, BTW, but I stress I've only had dealings with Sri Lanken panels. The chassis is probably a different factory

Shout if you want to know where to NOT buy those panels, BTW, I'd better not yell it out on here...

Just read the blog - and I have to point out that decorating a living room is NOT more important than working on a Minor
