I have just took mungo out for a drive around the block to see if I could see any difference after fitting a new air filter and thermostat, although it was a lot quieter I did notice that it was getting warm inside the car (heater turned off) and the orange light on the speedo was flickering on and off, also how many coloured lights are on the speedo and what are they for, I know the red is ignition light but the rest I haven't a clue, could some one help me with this, and if I can get it sorted mungo will once again be a happy bunny. cheers

The orange light just below the red one is oil pressure warning!!!

I'd check your oil level before driving much further.

The RED is ignition(goes out when charging) might glow on slow tickover.
the ORANGE is OIL PRESSURE which should never come on except when
the engine has stopped. If there is another ORANGE on your speedo it is to
indicate a blocked oil filter when it illuminates. The BLUE light is for head lamp main beam. If your car is getting hotter since you changed the
thermostat you had better check that the hot water is flowing from the engine
through the thermostat and in to the top of the radiator i.e. is the new stat
opening when the engine heats up?

It could be that the wires are switched behind the speedo and its actually the ignition light thats flickering on at idle. This happened on a friends traveller.

Gave him a bit of a worry till the cause was spotted!
