I understand from Cam's excellent resource on the Potteries website that on a 1969 Traffy Blue 2 door the wheels should be dark silver and the pin stripe should be pearl grey.
Wheels are now sorted and the next step is the pin stripe.
What are the easy ways of a) getting rid of the white pinstripe and b) putting on the new colour preferably without major spraying.
I understand that the grille should be snowberry white. How does snowberry white compare with old english white?

Dave, getting rid of the old coachline might be tricky but careful sanding might be the way to get the 'profile' of the paint down to that of the bodycolour paint.

You used to be able to get masking tape in rolls with a 'strip' missing the in middle (I think Frost still do it) for masking off and painting the pinstripes. Then either get a can of the correct colour and spray the coachline on or paint it on with a brush, but although I've hand-painted cellulose it can be tricky without it forming a skin or the solvent dissolving the paint underneath and 'ripping' the underside paint as the brush moves over it. Having said that though I have done it with success, but I think I'd be tempted to spray it.

Old English White has a hint of red in it (making it look softer) whereas Snowberry white has a hint of green (making it look harder).

I tend to use ready made pinstripes. The stick on stuff. Doesn't look too bad

And what colour should that be on a Platinum Grey Series MM. And what size? I heard those were wider.

The coachline IS wider on the early cars and I think for a plantnum grey car the line should be Cream or Old Engligh White not 100% sure which. White anyway.

I know the early Series MMs had the wider stripe but I'm not sure if this carried over into 1950.

I've only ever seen a white (or off white) body stripe on the traffy blue 2 dr saloons (except for a gold one that looked a bit DIY) - Either it's selective blindness or just that the body stripe had been redone on a lot of cars.

As for snowberry white - it's very different to OEW if you get them next to each other, although if they are apart they both look white. That's about as much as I can say on shades of white - obviously not very in touch with my feminine side today

OEW is more creamy, snowberry is a lot colder, and brighter
