Ive been borrowing my brothers moggy 1000 while mine is off the road. However some women (dont mean that in a sexist manner, but she was female!) has smacked it on the front nearside wing! Is it easy enough to change? Ie. no welding! I want to sort it for him ASAP!

fantastic. Is there any faffing about getting the fit right? Or will it bolt on and look good? I will be using a genuine wing.

original one or genuine reproduction wing? The first will fit, the second one.... hopefully

well the first thing is to get the old wing off, this is held on with bolts and captive nuts placed around the inner wing, some of these can be tricky to get undone, plus gas is favourite here, not wd40.
are u using new old stock genuine or modern genuine, i beleive there is a difference.
good luck

Fraid I disagree Onne, neither are a good fit although the pattern one is quite a bit cheaper, so this can be excused to a degree. Depends on whether your car has had work performed on it really, as to how good the fit will be, also on the degree of fit and finish you wish to achieve.:D

Well i suppose wing choice depends on my budget. Unfortunately i will need to replace the front grille panel as there is a slight bend in it. The wing has been replaced in the past. The inner wing is fine though! I do want a good fit, but cannot afford to have it done, insurance is a no go as my excess in £350! Im trying to avoid that.

If any shaping is required how straight forward would it be? Also if i got it to fit, could i then remove it to paint then re fit?

And don't forget those dodgy 2ba nuts in the hockey sticks

when you remove the wing bolts, snap a pair of mole grips on the captive nuts on the inside of inner wing, so that they do not rotate in there holders. that is if you are lucky enough to still have captive nuts there. also dont forget the "plus gas'.

if you need any adjustments to the wing, i would think that it is going to involve cutting and welding your required shape.

Difficult to say really as it depends on what you are going too. Best bet is to trial fit the wing and if you come across a particular problem ask us then. You can remove the wing once you have done any rectification work for painting, remember to paint the shut's (back of the panel and inside as the primer is pourus( can never spell this ) then apply the underseal or waxoyle etc.

the poor shape is usually at the top front, where it sits with the top of the hockey stick/ front valance.

Well I have 4 wings bought last year at the national. (should have seen us with 6 wings (4 of mine and 2 for a friend) 2 bumpers, camping gear and all with 4 of us in a renault Megan!! Any way I bought 3 pattern wings and 1 good second hand genuine wing and stupidly got them all lovely and painted before fitting. The bother with fitting around the hockey stick!!! Like all things its what you find when you take them off. Make sure when you go to fit it the middle of the wheel arch at the front doesnt bulge out and crease the wing!!
