One of the brake cylinder seals on my Wolseley 1500 front drums has perished. Do Minor seals fit?

good question!
If it is the cup type seal then it's worth to check the bore size and see if you can get one that's correct (stands a reasonable chance).
If it is a lip seal (ring type) then it may be the same as the seal from a pattern cylinder...

Generally you are fighting a loosing battle by trying to repair old cylinders

My understanding is that they are the same diameter - but I honestly don't know if the seals will fit. Let us all know when you find out!

You could try

Don't waste your time fitting seals fit a new cylinder assuming you can get one.

It's very unlikely the condition of the bores on the old cylinder will allow a reasonable life on new seals and polishing up the bores is not really worth the effort in my experience.

If I were to remove the cylinder from the backplate and dissasemble, is it straighforward? does it just pull apart?

Yes, front ones pretty much comes apart easily. The rears are a little more complex.

The seal just pops out - it's a little bucket. Wolseley cylinders are ubber expensive! I would clean it up and try a new seal - it can be done on the backplate - no need to remove it.

I paid £25 each for my Wolseley cylinders. They are genuine Lockhead.
It's just we have got used to cheap pattern parts for the Morris, but when you look at all the posts complaining about the quality of parts £100 for 4 cylinders AND NO PROBLEMS seems good value to me.

Couldnt agree more, I paid about £80 for set of front Riley cylinders on ebay.

I'd like to have given that a try but on further inspection the cylinder is beyond it.

Not on the car yet. The whole shebang was bought on ebay. They were already fitted to Minor uprights and 'ready to fit' but and given thier intended use I did the sensible thing and stripped the whole lot down first.
