Vibration

Because of of juddering I have replaced the gearbox mountings (no great improvement) and now engine mountings. Now the juddering has dissapeared but there is a equally annoying vibration directly related to engine revs that is of a much higher frequency. It almost feels like the mounts are too solid. Do they soften up after a while or is this indicative of another problem?

You could be suffering from the' Pattern Parts' curse. My car was as smooth
as silk until I replaced the spongey old engine mounts with new ones which
ruined the smoothness! Solved when KEVIN supplied me with some Original
old stock items.

Try loosening them off - waggle the engine - then gently re-tighten. The vibration may be coming from the prop shaft - is it ok ?

BMC prior to changing the engine mounts the car would happily drive up to 75mph. The vibration, if anything, is more obvious at low revs/tickover.

Aye - it could be lying 'squinty' on the mounts. Try slackening them - and run it like that for a day or two to see if it re-alignes itself.

Were the mounts from ESM*? I've just had some new ones split with only 3 or 4 minutes of static use. Either dreadful quality parts, or a bad batch.
*I imagine they're made by the same people wherever you buy them.

Forty year old originals, which I (luckily) had around, but had decided new would be better 'cos they were slightly crazed. We live and learn, we have no choice :D
