Hi Chaps, i am having a fuel problem where by the float is not refilling correctly.

Cheers -

Heat it up - but make sure all the petrol is away first. Try boiling water.
have to say this would be unusual - floats usually fail in a way that causes flooding - not starvation. But there could be some dirt trapped in it. Is the pump working ok ? And is the pump filter clean ?

Yeah the pump is gushing the fuel through, but the bowl is running dry. seems like the needle is sticking. I have a carb repair kit which has a replacement valve, but the old one is not budging.
the float looks like it has been bent up out of the way at some point and the float hinge/spindle is bent, so it does not move freely.
I thought i migth be able to buy a recond float/valve assy, but no one has one yet.

Is the bent float not just holding the valve shut ?

Which engine type have you got? I can send you a pics of the float assembly
from the workshop manual if you do not have them but it will have to be via
your e mail address. If you want this then send me your e mail via a PM.
The float valve is an awkward little devil as it is difficult to find a suitable
spanner which is thin enough to enter the recess, a box spanner usually does
it.
