Wolseley 1500 diff

Well I finally got round to fitting the 1500 diff thats been sitting on my bench for 12 month. Was a bit worried about it being too high gearing. So much so that I found a set of A35 wheels[13"] blasted and painted them and got decent tyres and new tubes. On first impressions I dont need them ,it pulls up the hill out of our village in third,just, but on the motorway will be fine.
Will this diff with 14" wheels make speedo read fast or slow?

The Wolsely 1500 had a 3.7-1 diff ratio, therefore your speedo will read
slow until you have it recalibrated.

Big diff kind of off-sets the small wheels ! Follow a truck at (as you well know) 56 mph to check your speedo! These W diffs sell for loads -last one I watched on ebay made nearly £200 !

No Roy, I originally worked out that to get the 3.9 ratio, which is the normal upgrade for 1098 I would need 13" wheels. That is using the 3.7 diff. However now that engine has Cooper head and 1 3/4" carb it seems to pull the bigger diff OK . So looks like I have a set of 13" wheels and tyres that are gonna be superflouus [that doesn't look right] to requirments.

I'm sure it will 'pull' the higher diff ok - I would go to 13" wheels (plenty of 13" Minilites going cheaply because they also fit Mini) - but just at the end of last year I bought a stack of new 14" tyres - so i have about 20 year supply of them!! You should be able to sell off the wheels to A35/A40 owners - do they have an 'owners' forum?

Probably will once I get the 14" wheels blasted and painted. Anybody on here want any 13" rims and tyres.
