Hello
Is there anybody out there? The first Regional, and therefore the first Concours qualifier, is only just over a month away

Judge, to my knowledge, in Kent we do not have any judging events in concours.

The engine bay shown is that of my 1954 Series II with which I achieved Grand Masters status. The car is largely original, has had no welding carried out to the main shell and very little elsewhere. The originality of the car was very important to me at the time, and still is, therefore wherever possible I retained the original parts, re-finishing as necessary. In fact if you look closely at the right hand side of the bulkhead you will see the remains of the 'Deluxe' body sticker that has been preserved. As yet I have not seen another car with this still in situ.Tris wrote:Judge- when looking at your sig pic I notice your car is very tidy to say the least, when it comes to concours do the parts have to be original? because i would have thought it would make the task of keeping a car like that impossible..
The other car, my 1950 lowlight, is a car that as far as I am concerned is so original that I think it is far more important to preseve it in its current state than to restore it to Concours standards.
However to answer your question, to compete in Concours although originality is a factor in the marking system, it is not compulsory that all parts must be original to the car to which they are fitted. Providing that the car is not altered from the original specification, replacement parts can be fitted.
Hope this helps.

Until last year, when we had our first Concours qualifying event at the Birmingham Branch Rally, it had been normal practice to only use the National and Regional Rallies to hold Concours events.chickenjohn wrote:Judge, to my knowledge, in Kent we do not have any judging events in concours.
As far as this year is concerned we are returning to the original format. However in future, if acceptable to the Branches concerned, we may well hold Concours events at Branch Rallies.
