I just got quotes £850 for the license plate alone and only brought for £400 so I dont know what to do. I dont want to scrap the car its a Antique you cant scrap it its inhumain, but what to do?
PLease any answers will really help. It only has master cylinder gone and washer motor and indicators so not much wrong and NO RUST with only 36k miles on the clock.
Cheers

Don't you DARE scrap it! Surely you'd better sell it - or give it away, seeing as it hasn't got an MOT. Which means, of course, that you can't sell the plate anyway :D

You'd need it to be MOTd to be able to transfer the number plate, so you'll need to fix those little faults before getting your £800 anyway. If there's no rust then it should be fairly cheap to fix even if you do take it to a garage. My advice would be: get the m/cyl changed and the washers & indicators fixed, sell the plate, then if you don't want the car you could get at least a few hundred pounds for it. A non-rusty moggy is always worth something!

Hope this is of some help to you.

Don't scrap it, there must be someone out there who would want it.

Where is the car? Someone on this Forum must be nearby and may be able to help you.

Well, since you can't sell the plate without MOTing it first... you're going to have to fix those bits to be able to sell the plate.

Once you've done that, you could sell the car with the plate (my preference) to someone who wants a minor, or you could give the car away, or you could sell the plate and give the car to someone who wants a minor, or you could sell the car and sell the plate separately...

Sounds like you need to do a deal with someone with time.... give them to car & get it through MOT then you get the plate & proceeds afterwards...

Could be the best of both worlds... if you can find such a person of course... :)

If the faults are so minor & the condition so good, may be worth paying a mechanic to sort them out.. Good 36k rust free minor with full MOT should be worth more than 800 quid... maybe £1200 or more if the paint, chrome & interior are sound...

How about some pics??

Hmmm, grand's worth of Minor when a 50 quid part and maybe a couple of hundred fettling is done - Scrap or fix if at least to flog the plate on then sell the car... Tough call that one, would take me at least a picosecond to work out.

FIX! Crikey, a lot of people wouldn't crush some nasty horrible modern Ford thing for the sake of a cylinder, pump and bit of wiring, there's absolutely no excuse to kill a Minor that needs such trival repairs!

If you want to give it away, I'm starting to build a bit of a collection..................
