Hello Eveyone,

I'm in the process of restoring a vintage racing car which has a 948cc ohv Morris engine. I was hoping to get some tips on the correct torque settings for the cylinder head, big ends and mains and also the valve clearances. This engine will be running on methanol at peak revs without a flywheel. :-?

In my Morris manual there are only torque settings for the 1098cc engine, suppose they must be same for 948.

Cylinder head 40lb/ft
Main bearings 60lb/ft
Bigends 35lb/ft

Valve clearances 012"

Hope thats some help.
Ian.

No flywheel ? So no clutch then ! I would certainly fit a crankshaft damper - what other mods are you doing to the engine ?
