Steering wheel removal

Anybody got any tips for removing the steering wheel once the nut has been removed?
Mine's jammed on. I've tried ...
1. Pulling hard
2. hitting the back of the boss with a hammer
3. Pulling harder
4. Wiggling it up and down
5. Pulling even harder

hello Andy,
the old adage of fittters is 'get a bigger hammer' that said it is a bit brutal.
I do use a plastic shot weighted hammer as my steering wheel remover but ideally use a puller if you have one?

Hi Andy,
I gave mine a clout with a rubber hammer and it came off no probs. Please remember to leave the big centre nut on a few threads before applying said clout, or you might just get a smack in the puss when it flies off!

For gods sake don't hit it with a 'hammer'. Use a rubber mallet. A metal object could easily crack the wheel. there would be no harm in using a release agent like Plusgas. I'm a great believer in the stuff.

Loosen the nut and drive the car - it will be sure to come off!
Seriously - wiggle and thump with fists usually gets it moving.

Actually, I find that it usually works just after point 9. It makes sure that it has broken your spirit and got you past the tears stage though.

I usually find you struggle fo hours, break down in tears give up on life and as you're tying the noose to the rafters in the garage have a brainwave and its a piece of cake now that you're doing it right.
