Traveller Wood Renovation

Post by tinagower »

Can anyone recomend a good book dealing with traveller renovation?

Also does anyone know if it is possible to obtain a pattern for traveller wood? I have a friend who is a skilled woodworker and who can access ash cheaply who is prepared to help me with the renovation

I would recomend the "Lindsey Porter" restoration manual
(usually available in the local library)
As for the wood. it needs to be made in a jig to hold it in tension,as it forms a strutural part of the rear end of the car.
Fitting is a simple nut & bolts job
I've got the tee-shirt!

The workshop drawings came up on ebay the other week... sadly beyond my wallet! It might be worth running a search on ended auctions, and contacting the buyer to see if he might be prepared to share costs by copying? I don't know however if there might be copyright issues with this course of action?

well as a joiner, it is really not worth the effort involved in making your own ash frames., by the time you have made templates, and spindle moulded the parts , you may as well buy them
