Wing variations .... ?!

Hello,
Could anyone offer me some advice please regarding variations in wings.
I have a 1969 2 door saloon &, from variou ssources, have bought 4 replacement wings.
When going to fit these I have found that although I can fit one of the rears (drivers side), none of the others fit.
The new front wings are (when stood on the ground) slightly taller then the old & the section around the front grill is different.
I know the rears can need some "encouragement" to fit, but the front section (by the sill) appears different.
I am now looking for some replacement - for my replacement ! - wings but want to be quite sure that I do actually buy the right thing this time.
Yes, I know I could go to a recognised trader & buy genuine wings, but I am also trying to do this as inexpensively as possible !

those wings are patten wing, not sure about the height differance, but the part sticking out at the front on the front wings will need to be cut and reshaped,. some patten rear wings also have a similar issue at the bottom near bumper irons.
very annoying if you paint the wing before the car arrives at the garage,.
sometimes its better to pay the higher price wings, as the money saved with patten one is lost in the labour reshaping them.
sometimes it better to by good used ones, rather then buy these cheap ones, at least you know they fit. trouble is, youve got to find good used ones.
a magnet is a good tool for finding good used wings.

Just be glad your complete set of wings had 2 fronts and 2 rears.
I collected the 'complete set of wings in excellent condition' (advertised in for sale section) recently to find they were quite rusty and there was only 1 front wing!!

Thanks for the replies & advice.
Having looked again, and with a little encouragement, the wings are now fitted & the car is looking good.
So good in fact that I am ow beginning to question my previous decision of selling the car when completed .... !!

Richard,

Why not drive the car and enjoy it for a while if you don't HAVE to sell it. You can always sell it afterwards for the same price.

Cam,
When I bought my Traveller 2 yrs ago, it was on the condition (from my wife !) that I sell saloon. I have been postponing this by telling her "The market isn't right at the moment" & have been enjoying the car !
However, as I also have 2 old Land Rovers which require using, common sense does say sell saloon & really Traveller as well .... obviously when the market is right, one cannot rush into such decisions !
