Does anyone know of anything that can remove scratches made by wipers? Can they be removed with jewellers rouge or summat?

You could ask Carglass, they remove them, probably with some sort of compound or polish

Phew - can I suggest a brick, now there's been a sensible answer? I know that there is something to do the job (Multipnonikks has used it) but I can't recall what it's called, sorry

I think Onne's right it will be a sort of polish, if it's easy to get hold of i don't know! My grandfather checked over my car when i got it and was amazed there was no windscreen wiper scratches, apparently it's common in minors!

I have got a lot of scratches on mine. don't think they can be polished out. But then it is only a piece of flat glass!

I've got a glass polishing kit from Frost which helps but it's very slow work. If the scratches are deep then the brick is probably the only cure.

Might be cheaper and less painful to get a new screen fitted. Autoglass will do it for £137.00 fitted, guaranteed for as long as you own the car. The price includes a 33% discount if you are an AA member and a further £20 off for taking the car in to one of their offices. My new screen is great, properly sealed too, and the glass gives a big relection of the green indicator lamp, which serves as a more obvious reminder that you've left the thing on!

I have done this using body cutting paste (I tried jeweller's rouge - which is just fine iron powder - it was not as good as the paste) - finishing off with brasso. It's a VERY laborious task - best done in short shifts.
