Hi all I have bought the above for a 67 tourer . I had to do it - I could remove the key without turning the engine off!. Anyone know how to replace the old barel?

Disconnect battery, remove switch from dash. You should find a small pin running across the lock. Drift it out, insert the key, and remove the barrel. Reaplce by reverse.

Why does that mean you have to replace the barrel? I can do that on mine and find it very handy as the garage door key is on the same key-ring as the car keys. If it ain't broke as they say...

Can on mine too - but I presume it means that the pins inside are worn, making it EVEN easier to start the car with a screwdriver/penknife :(

I found on mine it was the key itself that was worn.
I could remove mine until I had a new key cut - became very inconvenient like "chrisd87" found out  .
