Hello all
I want to buy some pretty new 14" or 15" wheels for my car and heard that Honda Wheels fill fil my '64 moggie.
Also does anyone know what the bolt pattern is? Apparently I need to know this so I make sure I get the right wheels.

You need to know a fair bit more than that, but yes, it is a good start!
The standard stud pattern on a Minor 1000 is 4 x 4"PCD

Honda wheels do NOT have 4 x 4"PCD bolt pattern and therefore if you can get them on the studs, they aren't going to stay on.

The next thing to worry about is offset - get this wrong and they won't clear the front suspension.

The third thing to take into account is the nuts - you need to use top hat nuts that pull up close to the drum to limit the strain on the wheel studs. Best option is to have centre hole adapters made as well, to ensure any heavy stresses (e.g. pot holes) gets transferred to the suspension without risk of broken studs.

The 4th thing to bear in mind is suspension. I'd not want to go above 165 (or maybe 175) tyre width on standard Minor suspension, and certainly not below 60 profile. Ignoring the effect on suspension will give a pretty poor ride on bumpy roads.

Another thing to consider is rolling radius. There is no need to use the wrong radius and if you do, it will make your speedo/mileage incorrect and if you go much bigger it can give a noticeable reduction in braking performace.

Sammi - you probably want to call a minor specialist to see what wheels are on offer If you're wanting Alloys then there's always minilites

If you want real choice for wheels then you may want to consider something like the JLH disc conversion and escort rear axle conversion. You can then get the hubs drilled to whatever specs you want

Ray is right - It's a bit more complex that just knowing the stud pattern!

get your self hub caps ,have alook at mine on my web .then fit 165 tyres on them looks good or normal 145 or 155 then wheel spacers on them to fill the arches that will be just right me recons

Oh goody, wheels . JLH do a good deal on 4 * 15" minilites + tyre combo. I've got 185's with a 60 profile on mine and the rolling radius is pretty much the same as standard. I do have disk brakes and tele dampers though so i'm not advocating just banging them on a standard set-up (as per ray's comments). Some peoples don't like minilites so you could always go for the wider van rims or the 5" minor developments ones. But bare in mind it'll cost you more than minilites £69 per wheel + approx £40 to have them sprayed

Please don't put 165's on standard minor rims thats wot some Numptys done to mine in the past (on the rears only)

They are far to wide for standard 4" rims. Look appaling and most importantly roll like a barge, on corners. On mine you can actually get nearly 1/2" of rock on just the tyre walls while the car is stationary (at 26psi)

It's worse than that - standard rims are 3.5" (nowhere near the 5"rim you should have for a 165 tyre).

Problem with Honda wheels is they're 100mm PCD whereas the Minor ones work out 101.6 (or close) in metric form.
Honda/BMW/Skoda/Vauxhall/Rover and many others use 100mm PCD.

I think people are tempted to jam them on as its only 1mm difference. But they won't sit straight if you do get them on.

And that would cause stress on the studs. Which is bad and possibly dangerous

You already have pretty wheels! Well, I think the standard Minor wheels look nice - maybe a coat of paint and some nice hubcaps would spruce up your wheels if they look a bit tired?

BTW is it true that rostyle wheels from a midget fit the Minor? I've only ever seen it on one car and they look rather good.

I agree. Standard wheels painted up and shiney hubcaps look great.

I agree too! The only alloys that suit a Minor are period style alloys, such as minilite or slot- mag style ones etc (IMHO).

That's got me motivated anyway - time to get out the sandpaper and focus magnolia gloss! (Oops, I mean expensive old english white).

Maybe I'll have em done by the website rally!
