GMMG Rally Bourton on the Water Sunday 7th May is FULL

Post by washer-bottle »

We are very sorry to say that the Gloucestershire Morris Minor Group Annual rally at Bourton on the Water on May 7th is now full. We are limiting entries to the Royal British Legion Carpark to 80 which we feel is the maximum number of Minors that we can safely park on the rally site. This is proving to be an exceptional rally for us and we are closing further entries a month earlier than planned. Please can you pass this onto fellow club members who are not internet aware. You are welcome to turn up on the day and try and find a car parking space in Bourton on the Water main carpark, but being a tourist hotspot this is not as easy as it sounds. If you succeed in parking in Bourton you are welcome to visit us on foot. We hope that this message will prevent a wasted journey and dissapointment.

These are the directions for you. We are expecting 81 Minors and so please bear with us as we get everybody onto the rally site.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) car park is on Lansdowne Road, Bourton on the Water at OS Map 163 Grid Reference SP166208. The full address is The Naight, Lansdowne, BOURTON, GL54 2AR.

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi? ... 000&icon=x
Click the aerial photo option to see the car park.

To approach the rally from the south head north up the A429 Fosse Way to Boughton. Just after the junction where the A436 Cheltenham road joins from the left you go over a bridge over the river Windrush. Take the right hand turn here into Boughton. There is no roadsign, but this is the best way into Bourton, alongside the river. Head east, past the petrol station on the left and you will see a church on the left with a Landrover garage on the right. This is where you turn right into the Royal British Legion – look for GMMG signs.

If approaching from the north head south down the A429 Fosse Way, go straight on past the left turn marked Bourton on the Water at the traffic lights and turn left into Lansdowne road just before the river. There is no roadsign, but you will see the a big hill ahead of you and the right turn to Cheltenham on the A436 just beyind the turning. Head east, past the petrol station on the left and you will see a church on the left with a Landrover garage on the right. This is where you turn right into the Royal British Legion – look for GMMG signs.

If you go too far you will reach the centre of Bourton with the war memorial and river Windrush on your right with all the shops on the left. The Cotswold Motoring Museum is on the right behind the war memorial. Turn round and head back 300 yards with the RBL on your left.

See you soon.

washer-bottle, if the rally is fully booked then I take it you don't want the rally advertising on our events page then?

But people may want to have a look round? If I was any nearer, I would!

it's just a quick run out for some of us, however on a sunny weekend it's a no go for parking anyway - let alone when there's a car rally in town.

Sorry we really are full - we seemed to have picked the right place this year, but unfortunately we couldnt find a bigger rally site in Bourton. We could have had another 40 entries or so - currently the total is 83 entries. Weather forcast is good. You are welcome to come along and say hello, browse the jumble, go to the museum, etc but its unlikely we will fit you onto the site. If you are coming along anyway turn at 11am and we will see what we can do - you never know there may be some no shows.

This year's Glos MM Group Rally will be at Bourton-on-the-Water on Sunday 13th May 2007 in the grounds of The Cotswold School. Entry will be £7 or free for GMMG members. We are back in Bourton again by popular demand, but we have a bit more space this year so we hope that you won't all be disappointed this time. This will be the GMMG 21st Anniversary Rally and we intend to beat the 91 entries we had in 2006. We hope the new MMOC webmasters will still allow us to post the rally entry form again as a link from Whats On for Sunday May 13th in due course. Entry forms are being posted this week to the MMOC branch secretaries and last year's entrants.
Come to the Cotswolds, its MM Country - see you on 13th May.
