doable though, cut it, throw it back and weld it up again.... provided you know what your doing. theres alot of minors with bulkhead alterations out there that are perfectly safe.

Well yes, but if your doing that why not fit a fiat twin-cam with 5 speed box instead, will not require the bulkhead mods, and in standard tune will give you more power..
And i know bulkhead mods are perfectly acceptable if done to a good standard, most zetec minors require them slightly (well crossmember anyway)

but those pintos can be modded into oblivion, and parts are super plentifull. its abit less common too, if you were gonna mod it that much, wouldnt you rather do somethign a little bit different to norm?

and tbh i prefer ford parts to fiat. but thats just me. and ofcourse if your pspending that much money it just seams common sense to me to swap the engine too, i mean all the parts for a type 9 conversion with a mior engine could set you back well over a grand!

I totally agree with you, hence why i'm dropping in a 1.4 zetec se with type 9 bellhousing, all fuel injected etc. The 5 speed conversion kits do seem very pricey to me, but any alloy custom bellhousing will cost you that much if you buy it new anyway. And a custom prop isnt cheap either.

exactly, but pinto and cologne are about as new as i like. im not keen on the sound of the zetecs these days. or the capacity! 1.4 isnt a big enough change for me, even if the performance increase is greater than the 2 litre pinto. i dunno i guess theres no pride in having 1.4litres of frugality =p

now if someone fitted the 7.2 interceptor engine in a minor id be very interested to see how!

Someone's taken apart an MGB V8 and put the interesting bits into a Minor - engine, gearbox, rear axle and front suspension. Looked pretty insane but there wasn't much leg room inside afterwards

All quite feasable I'm sure but would young ben-minor-63 be able to afford (or even obtain) insurance cover? We seem to have strayed somewhat from the original thread!

Nobody has suggested changing to Negative Earth - I would have thought that was No2 priority ( after seatbelts) if you want any type of noise maker. Even more important if you want real music... Classical, Jazz ... but then I am old and prejudiced. :-?
