My '69 4 door is called "Gladys Emanuelle" after the nurse in "Open All Hours". She had to be called something and Gladys just seemed so appropriate.

My current Mog is called Beanie and was named by a friend visiting from London when he saw her for the first time. Had a Blue 2 door called Cedric and a red ex-PMG van called Pat, for obvious reasons.

Since this thread started I've aquired two more cars (not Minors, but hey) - Both are White DAF 44s (one year apart) and are called Jejy (JGT) and Vixy ('cos it went with Jejy). I later found out Vixy's old name was Mona, after the noises she made, but since I serviced 'er, she doesn't make those noises anymore

The first green 'other' car I had was called Fungus. As my present one is green and an estate that's usually full of kids we decided to call it Snotbox.

I've recently managed to trace a previous owner of my moggy. I found someone of the same name on 192.com in Newtown Wales. So I wrote a nice letter with some current pictures. The lady replied with "Oh my god! You have my beautiful Berlinda!" She has sent me a photo taken in the early seventies when she purchased it. I kind of feel compelled to continue her tradition using the same name. I've promised to drive it over to show her too, which in her words " left her 81 year old heart beating very quickly".

Mine is called Masie ... she was originally called Mavis, and my first morris (which unfortunately passed away) was called Daisy ... in the restoration of Mavis I have used so many parts of Daisy that she has become Masie

When I bought mine, it had "XXX Loves Bubbles" in pink stick-on letters on the back, where XXX was a lady's name, so I can only guess that is was called Bubbles! It's rather a silly name...
However, it's bad luck to change the name of a ship. Does the same apply to a Morrie, and what if I end up replacing a substantial proportion of the car during restoration (can I give it a new name)? ;o)

XXX probably liked champagne.
You saved the car, you get to name it.

You have to sit on the prow and explain to her why her name's being changed - it stops the bad luck, according to some sailors.
