I think its very commendable, my mog was made road legal after spending 7 years rotting on the driveway by a garage (which i dont think im alowed to name on here) and it was nothing but one big bodge and they put a large scratch in the passenger side door as well as fitting a faulty fuel pump and managing to faff the rocker gasket up! Sorry for going a little off topic, oh yeah and they left some of the welding bare! Apologies for the rant but it still makes the blood boil.

Unfortunately many members on this forum have had similar experiences. Bad for the general public and good traders alike. This issue was going to be brought up at the MMOC AGM, does anyone know is any sort of decision was made?.

The A series will soon blow it's head gasket too if you let the water level run too low !!

There are too few engines as robust as the A-series!!
I ran one out of water, flat out on the M1, after it got so hot that the paint burnt a bit it got more hot and eventually stopped running altogether. When it stopped running and let out a cloud of smoke intead, I figured there was something wrong!
I filled it up with water and completed the remining 100 miles of journey (not flat out) - it needed a new thermostat and the timing was heavily retarded amongs other things. That engine is still running 5 years later as far as I know, and not much more rough than it was to start with

I've never heard any other type of engine take such abuse.

Yep, the A-series can take a beating. The head is less likely to warp too than the ally K-series one, but that's true of pretty much all ally heads.

I bought this up at the AGM and it was answered personally by Ray Newell who keeps a file on the offenders. The outcome was printed in Minor Matters.

Basically, the advice I can offer is to complain repeatedly until the work is done to your satisfaction. If they refuse or fail to do the work properly then take them to court. I know it's a battle but if everyone just accepts bad workmanship then things don't improve. If they get a CCJ against them through court action then the details are printed in Minor Matters and they are excluded from advertising in the magazine. The MMOC has procedures in place for this sort of thing. Also, as well as complaining to the company, inform Ray Newell (MMOC Secretary) who will keep record.

Given the amount of discussion wrt using a K-series in a Minor I'd happily volunteer myself as an impartial tester.

I'm a fan of the simplistic design of the A series but I'm no die-hard evangelist (I also like Fords Kent engine), similarly I don't have any real allegiance to the K series either.

So, in the interest of science, I'm willing to drive around in a newly converted K series (preferrably a trav as I love them ) indefinately - or at least as long as someone will let me borrow one.

So, anyone gonna let me have one then????

It seems my 16v conversion is getting around all the forums.

As for the conversion itself, its very reliable on the road and race track. we have built 9 so far (6 were road cars) with very good results, we are bringing out a manifold next week so it can be run on webbers instead of injection as some future customers are asking for this.

I never really thought about the minor engine untill i had an order today for 2 16v conversions for a sprite/midget

Basically you can advise people as long as you don't push or advertise your products. You can contact people through PM but only if they express an interest to be contacted in this way.

This system has worked fine in the past and traders have drummed up business through offering good advice and knowlegde as opposed to the 'hard-sell'. Your company already has a good reputation on here as a few of us (me included) have had products from you in the past and have been more than pleased.
