I wasn't kidding about "the same black", BTW - does anybody know? Hardly important, I'm just curious

I don't think the colour code changed over the years, but I don't know if that says anything

BigG, I think it was the same all the way through going off the codes, but mistakes in this department have been known!

And black is supposedly quite a hard colour to get right on a car, dark black or light black, you get the idea!

Or blue or red based - they can be extraordinarily different when you see them together.

Whatever you do decide, make sure you do get a code for it in case you need to touch anything up later

There may have been other blacks but black tends to be quite black really

Steve,
if your painter gets his paint from CARS in St Peters, they were able to match and mix the right colour black for me from the BMC code :-
BMC code
BLACK
BLK 1
They had the code in their big book, went away for 10 mins and came back with the correct coloured tins of paint!!!

See, now, my dad worked for a British computer company called ITL (sadly long gone); you might be wondering what this has to do with Minors, but they made the same mistake you did. Someone there thought 'oooh, black is black and white is white', so they did they're flagship range of computers in black and white modules.
Of course, what happened is when people got new modules they didn't *quite* match, which somewhat spoiled the effect. But it looked cool in the brochure...*
* which has a picture of my dad's Ford Escort saloon in it because they only had a few delivery vans so lined up all the staff cars *after* the delivery vans to get the shot of their 'fleet'
