Going to pop over to the garage to have a closer look. Will take some pics and post them later this evening. Phoned the DVLA, no progress yet, was told to give it another week and then phone back.

I considered doing a similar thing a number of years ago, when someone had abandoned a '63 Traveller which had failed its MOT on a few holes in the sills. The previous owner had left the MOT failure sheet on view on the passenger seat. I wish I had done it now because a DVLA check states that it was last used in 1985 when I saw it abandoned. It would have been an easy renovation too. Whatever happened to that abandonded Minor at Rome airport? I remember seeing a thread here on it a few years ago. Anyone know if it's still there?

As promised, some pics. Sorry that they're a bit blurry but they are phone pics.
a couple of shots of the front wings after a brief bit of T Cutting:
I took a photo of the drivers quarterlight but it hasn't turned out for some reason. The actual metal frame has corroded and swelled. Looks like it's easy to take out. Are replacements easy to get hold of?
Thats it for now. Cheers. Ken

I've got spare 1/4 lights if you're in need - Takes 5 mins to change them over....

Cheers for that.
I will be compiling a list of 'wants' as soon as I hear more about the V5, etc. Are the parcel shelves complex? I will probably try and fabricate some from milboard. The door trims will need doing as they are mis-shapen. I will try and reuse the old trim as they are in decent condition and will clean up nicely.
Hopefully it won't be excessive. Can I pm you nearer the time??
What do folks think of the car so far?
Thanks. Ken

Those front seats look like they're in pretty good condition, no stretching and sagging... actually the whole car looks pretty decent, a good find i must say.

Look on the bright side you live near the coast - lovely countryside and loads of fresh air - you're so lucky!

I was thinking of the New Forest It can take 1.5 hours to get to any countryside worth being in from here

Smart area, Solihull

May be classed as "smart" but too many houses are being in back gardens at the mo

it's getting very claustrophobic. Solihull used to be a village and Birmingham has "gobbled" it up - all the green open places are being sold for housing including half the park

Nothing significant to report yet folks. I will phone the DVLA later in the week. No doubt I'll speak to a drone who will have no clue as to what I am on about

Had a couple of really nice emails from the lady who previously owned the car. I sent her a recent pic of the car parked on the road. The car had been in her family from new. She's very keen to hear how things progress and would love the car to be sorted. She still has some papers and will have a look through them to see if she can piece together some sort of history.
