I love the fact that they do what ever they want and trash what they want
One of the eastern block cars they borrowed "was" a show winner. I'd seen the car in the past and it was beautiful and always drew crowds. Despite their promises to the very careful owner they treated it like Basil Fawlty, damaged the ignition, damaged the starter, crashed it, then lied about the damage (said it must have happened on the transporter on the way back) but the damage was evident in some of the video clips :(

The likelihood they get many eastern block cars lent to them in the future is rather questionable (request was sent via the IFA owners club) as they just wanted to slag them off anyway.

Youngun, but would you have felt the same if it was a Minor being slagged off and trashed. OK the Minor is not in the same league, but just as many people hate the Minor as do Marina's.... we don't even know Clarksons opinion on the Minor..... best not ask to find out I suppose! :)

I'm sure if he had the chance to trash one he'd trash it! when Chris Evans told hime he had a Minor he sort of laughed in a cheeky way!

Personally I think he might like it in the way Fifth Gear do - The handling. I can't talk from experience obviously, but Tiff said he loves it for the handling and it must be better than the Marina or is that wrong? :P

I think tiff is a smal fan of the Minor though, but clarkson I think not! in my opinion the way I see clarkson is that the only good cars are in the range of BMWs and up

Not keen on BMWs myself. More of an Aston or Alfa fan ;)

I used to love watching topgear when it was a car programme for car enthusiasts but now it has turned into an entertainment show for people who know nothing about cars so they can slag off as many cars as they like.
Personally I'm not a fan of the Marina but trashing another one like that yesterday was just taking it way too far, I don't think I'll be watching it again.

I think somebody ought to go and burn Hammonds newly restored Opel Kadett and see how he reacts to it. He claims to be a classic car fan.

Well of course id be a bit more sympathetic. But at the same time I still wouldnt care that much, its his opinion and he's entitled to express it...if that invloves trashing one, well never mind.

Ill continue watching top gear, it seems silly to stop watching it just because they trash stuff now and then. yes it has become an entertainment show and not really a car show....but whats the alternative, Fifth gear? Do you want to watch an annoying man, a fat bearded man and a WOMAN drive cars in a not nearly as exciting way and with no explosions?

Good lord, not a woman! Driving!!! :o
/sarcasm

er, well, yes, when it's Vicki Butler-Henderson. What's not to like? clever, articulate, drives well, likes cars, gives reasoned and objective views about them... and she's jolly attractive :D

I used to watch TG, but don't bother now.

I agree, I suppose as the saying goes "one mans junk is another mans treasure".... but also "one mans treasure is another mans junk"!

Somebody I know loaned his concours Cortina 1600E to the BBC for an Andrew Marr programme, they promptly drove it though a quarry .

He described the Traveller as a Greenhouse on wheels.
Yes Tiff is a bit of a fan and so is Quentin Wilson who is a true classic car fan he even did a couple of commentary stints at The London Classic Car Show at Ally Pally a few years back.
