This is what the vet is supposed to have said.
Seems owner was just giving the python small, but regular amounts of food.
They need a large amount and then don't eat again for ages.
I suppose it therefore treated the mice etc as a snack and the owner as the main course !
Personally I think the owner is 100% at fault for not realising and is reponsible for it being put down - not the snake who would only doing what comes natural.
Personally I don't fancy a snake as a pet but on the other hand don't like any creature being destroyed unnecessary.

I completely agree with you. People buy, or inherit all sorts of pets- common, exotic, and unusual. Some are responsible and eager to learn as much as they can about their charges. Others unfortunately aren`t as responsible and either won`t learn, or refuse to learn how to take care of them. The animal ALWAYS loses out in the latter. There are reasons why zoos and similar places require 1 human handler for every 3 feet of python or boa when they handle them. Alot of people do foolish things like cut back on the number and sizes of feedings in effort to slow the snake`s growth and cut costs of ownership. It`s unhealthy for the snake as well as anyone trying to handle them. They do this with tortoiese too, but a large hungry tortoise is fairly slow and not likely to try to swallow you whole.
I`ll get of my soap box now and thank you for letting me vent a little. I ran a pet shop for a friend of mine for years and you wouldn`t beleive the things people did out of ignorance or laziness.

The first two kitten pics were taken yesterday afternoon. The top one is the little white and blue spotted Impian boy. It`s hard to see his curled ears because he`s fuzzier than his brother and his ears kind of disapear into the hair, and he has awsome extra toes on all 4s.
Second is the little brown tabby and white American Curl boy, the white shows up nicely against the darker color of his ears and surrounding coat color.
Last is Lula making "air pawsies" while she nurses them as newborns.

You aren't meant to feed them anything wider than the gap between their eyes. I think the feline is a little too large for him to attempt.....

They are realy good friends!!

My python would have eaten the cat, we sold it earlier this year. How I miss her little hugs!
