Just a thought but since the van is probably scrap anyway, could you put the cab on a shorter chassis with a different engine and drivetrain? Is there something lying around your campervan works that could be used?
It's not as if you need the original 4 litre engine to haul the traditional cargo of twice the legal axle weight of broken fridges and washing machines.

I think you're wise not to take on the truck- best to concentrate the money and effort it would take on restoring Victoria, then think about future projects.
