Nothing gets past you does it Alex! I have 3 cine cameras none of which work. I hope to make at least 1 good one out of the 3. Photography is one of my hobbies. I also have 3 35mm cameras and 5 medium format cameras!

I've finally worked out my fuel consumption.

This year we travelled 2248 miles and used 238.9 litres of fuel. That works out at 42.72mpg. Total cost £271.45, 12.07p/mile.

Last year we did 2080 miles on 254.9 litres, 37.05mpg, 11.98p/mile.

Used about 1.5l of oil, but I think I have a bit of a leak developing at the sump bearing seals.

Excellent mpg - well done.

Just worked ours out: 2197 miles, 250.8 litres = 40 MPG (39.9 actually) and cost £295.48 which is 13.45p/mile.

Quite chuffed at that too. As a comparrison on the JOGLE I think she did 41 MPG so not too much lost due to lower speeds and twisty turny bits!

What fuel were you using Cam? Normal u/l, or the stronger stuff?

Normal 95, why?

Just wondering how you were paying nearly 2p/mile more than me. You've used 12ltrs more than me, for £24 more. Thought the more expensive fuel might account for it. I use normal 95 octane as well.

Don't know. £295.48 / 2197 miles = 13.45p/mile.

But then again you are getting better economy than me it seems, as I am only getting 39.9 mpg. So you are putting less fuel in per mile than me...

Maybe that would account for it?

Well, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed this years run, and from the feedback that I have received, so did the vast majority of the other participants.

My sincere thanks to everyone who took part and made it such a success, and of course to those of you who sent your support. Also to Orkney, who kindly provided accomodation for two of our group, and a very warm welcome with lashings of tea and other 'refreshment'

I have already received requests to do it again next year, when hopefully I will be able to add even more variety into the route and sights to see.

Can I just offer a HUGE thank you for organising such an enjoyable event and for making the wedding especially memorable. Thanks also to everyone else who was there, helped and provided a lovely atmosphere. It is something I will never forget.

Hello to all. I'm back at home today and went back to work to have a nice rest I've been playing happy families for the last week whilst dog sitting (for a very tiring dog!).

I really enjoyed the run, and want to give a special thanks to Bill for all his efforts (and for being able to put up with very different organisational techniques i.e. stressing about ferry bookings 3 months in advance vs booking it with ~2 weeks to go). Also thanks to everyone else who also pased on locations etc. via phones so we could all keep together.

I especially enjoyed being able to attend Gill and Cam's wedding, and also the well wishes I got from people who weren't sure if I'd make it.

As for communication I was a little surprised that I was the only one camping on the way up, but that's only because I'd forgotten to ask! Generally I'd rather camp on a road trip than youth hostel as campsites tend to be quiet at night. The state of some of the 'hotels' made me more glad that I'm tight* as some seemed to be overly short staffed.
(*fond of living on a budget)

Sorry to anyone who thought I was a bit of a 'seperatist' - I enjoyed spending time with you all, but given a choice I head for a little group rather than a big one (I can't help being antisocial ;-) ). Another part of the reason was that I'd bought food for the whole trip without realising most others would be eating out due to staying in hotels.

I'm very glad Kevin got home safe as everyone was concerned when he dissapeared without word or warning. I'm sorry that he didn't enjoy the road trip, but if he wanted to go home early then it's a free country. I've helped tow people 1000km across 2 countries on mainly dirt tracks so for a mere 15km I wouldn't have needed to be asked twice (actually I look forward to it!)

My thanks go to Dave & Carole Fisher who have updated their branch website with an article on this years LEO Run. Hopefully it will encourage some more of you to join us next year.

PS With the 30% discount given by Northlink Ferries the fare came to around £105, and Travel Lodge accomodation was mainly £29 for a double room.
