Thanks Aupickup, you've been so helpfull, along with everyone else on this site. I would imagine that when I'm done getting this back on the road I'll want to show her off from Lands End to John O Groats.

Thanks Dan you're a Gentleman sir, I could well be asking,no, pleading for assistance in a month or so. Today I'm in the rust mire, rust rust and more rust, its lucky I like the sight of so much rust. I've had a long day and it's time for that stiff one the ladies mentioned. maybe veging out is whats needed with a large glass of rum.
Image
There was a slight hitch last night as one of the phillips head screws turned over and wouldn't budge, so I quit and had a drinkypoos. Then today armed with fresh vigor, I drilled out that pesky screw. here's a shot of that now kaput item, with its less obstructive brother, ouch, thats seriously out of focus, sorry, but you get the picture..
Image
off came that drum exposing all the little invertibrates that will rule the world when we, mankind, have gone from this planet, tough, we're still here, so I brushed them ALL into a dustpan, checking for any asbestos dust, none in evidence for some strange reason.
Image
The hubcap came off easily enough exposing the really big nut (RBN)Now came the stickingpoint, Ive taken notice of information received on here, the nut is on the left side of the car so has a left thread, after easily picking out the split pin, could I get that nut to turn? It's a tuffy, its not rusted in either, it was smothered in grease. I'll have to get a castleated socket I guess?
Image
Just use a normal socket....

Yes normal socket, it shouldnt even be too tight as the split stops it from going anywhere. Once youve got it loosened either use a hub puller or 2 claw hammers works a treat to bring off the hub!! Leave the nut on loosely to stop the hub falling off and wrecking you.....
